Every creature at Brook House has found their forever home

It all began with Tina and James. Growing up in the countryside with dogs and ponies, Tina was always that child who spent her pocket money on three-legged horses in gift shops. James was a city boy who discovered a natural bond with animals.

First to join the menagerie were Barry and Barbara, a pair of rescued ducks, quickly followed by a flock of chickens and Tobias the turkey. Poppy the naughty donkey and toy horse Rocky added to the family soon after.

After a serious and life-changing accident, James found a special symbiotic relationship with the animals beneficial to both his physical and mental health.

‘What a life-affirming and joyful place to visit’

animal sanctuary shropshire

Since those early days, animal welfare teams and vets have worked closely with James and Tina to re-home more than a hundred animals, from kunekune pigs to llamas, dwarf cows and tame hand-reared roe deer.

Now based here at Brook House in the magical Clun Valley in Shropshire, the sanctuary has become a central part of a friendly local community, even hosting a live nativity in the barn alongside llamas, sheep, miniature horses and donkeys.

Tina and James continue to rescue animals in need and welcome visitors, please contact us to arrange a visit.
